How to Get Fingerprints Taken in Australia
You may need to get fingerprints taken for applying for a Certified Criminal Record Check from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Canada, Identity History Summary Check from the FBI USA, a police clearance certificate from another country, or for some other purpose.
In case you need a police clearance certificate from Canada, you would need to send a physical fingerprint form, and the other required documents to an RCMP-accredited fingerprinting agency in Canada. The fingerprinting agency in Canada will digitize ink fingerprints and transmit them to the RCMP electronically. After checking the fingerprints, the RCMP send out a certified criminal record check via Canada Post. In Canada, there are mainly two types of police checks. In Australia, you would need a fingerprint-based police check.
In case you need an Identity History Summary Check, you would need to get fingerprints taken on a standard FBI fingerprint card. You would need to first apply and pay online at the FBI’s website. Once you pay, you will receive a confirmation email which needs to be printed and physically sent to the FBI with the fingerprint card. Once the FBI process fingerprints, they will send you an email to download the police report from the FBI’s website.
Where to get fingerprints taken in Australia?
For sending to Canada, you would need to get fingerprints taken by the local police, a notary public, an embassy or consulate or a fingerprinting agency having signed an MOU with a Canadian fingerprinting agency.
For sending to the FBI USA, you can get fingerprints taken by the local police, a fingerprinting agency. The FBI needs a very clear set of fingerprints for verification. Normally the fingerprints taken by the notary public are not suitable for submission to the FBI.

Which fingerprint form to be used for sending to Canada?
