Where to get fingerprints taken in Portugal?
In Portugal, you can get your fingerprints taken at several locations, including police stations, the US Embassy and the Notary Publics. Here are some options:
US COOP of Lisbon: Located at the U.S. Embassy in Lisbon, this service charges around 60 euros for fingerprinting and provide FBI fingerprint cards. The fingerprints taken on the FBI cards are acceptable by Worldwide Forensic Services Inc Canada to apply for a Canadian Criminal Background Check.
Local Police Stations: You can get your fingerprints taken at the local police stations in Portugal. It is always advisable to contact them in advance to confirm if they provide the fingerprinting services.
Private Fingerprinting Services: There are private agencies in Portugal that offer fingerprinting services. You can Google search them with he keyword “fingerprinting near me”.
Notary Publics: You may also get fingerprints taken by the local Notary Publics. Normally the Notary Publics do not have a special fingerprinting ink pad and may not be able to take clear prints. It is advisable to get the fingerprints reviewed before they are sent to the Canadian company for digitization and transmission to the RCMP.

Do I need to send my original fingerprint form via post or courier? Can I email you a scanned version of my fingerprints?
We need a hard copy of a fingerprint form . Please use a secure mailing method to ensure it arrives safely. You may consider using certified mail or a courier service with tracking.
Once you receive my documents, will you confirm their receipt?
Yes we will confirm by sending an email to you.
Can I get my fingerprints taken on the form used by the Portugal police?
Yes you can. We accept all the forms having layout similar to RCMP’s fingerprint form C-216C.
The Canadian Police Check also needs to be apsotilled. Do you offer this service?
Yes we can get the RCMP check apostilled for an additional cost.
Can the RCMP post the Certified Criminal Record Check to Portugal?
Yes the RCMP can send the police check (hard copy) to any address in Portugal via Canada Post regular mail (no tracking). The RCMP do not send police check via email or courier.
Can I use the fingerprint form in your application packageand get my fingerprints taken on it?
Yes you can use that form.
I have a copy of fingerprint form. Can you digitize fingerprints from a photocopy?
We cannot digitize fingerprints from a copy. We need an original fingerprint form.
Where do I get fingerprints taken in Portugal?
You can get fingerprints taken by the local police, an Embassy or a Consulate, a notary public or a fingerprinting agency having a MOU with Worldwide Forensic Services Inc.
I need the Canadian Police Check urgently. Can the RCMP send it to your company and you can then forward to me via courier?
Yes we can do that. Please send us an email providing your complete address and phone number. We will get a quote from the courier company and let you know.
In case I want the police report to be sent to a third party, do I need to send an additional document.
Yes a third party consent form is required. It is in the application package.
Why do you need my passport style photograph?
The photograph is printed on the RCMP’s certified criminal record check. It can be of any size.
How do I pay for your service and the RCMP fee?
You can pay via Visa or MasterCard credit card, PayPal, an international money order or an email transfer.
You can send an email transfer to info@fingerscan.ca. An email transfer is possible only a from a Canadian bank account.
If you want to pay via PayPal, send us a message to ask for a PayPal invoice.
Can my friend or relative pay on my behalf?
Yes they can pay for you. You can forward credit card payment form to your friend or family member. They can complete it, sign it and email to us.

I Need a Basic Name and Date of Birth Based Check. Can I get it through your company?
Yes we can provide the basic name and date of birth based check (CPIC) in as fast as 24 hours.
Please send a quick message and we will email an application package. The basic name and date of birth based check is normally not accepted by the local authorities.
Can I use a basic name and date of birth based check for an immigration application?
Some authorities do not accept a basic name and date of birth based check. They need a fingerprints based check issued by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
